Blown Away by Community

I'm constantly amazed at what the church can be. It seems that in times of crisis the church family can pull together in ways that never cease to amaze! I'm certainly amazed!

You'd think that after 12 years of pastoring a guy would get a little cynical. A little hardened. A little weathered by the storms of church life and church people. But I think I've softened. Or been softened. (Sometimes you're softened up by the blows :-)

But what do you say to a woman who brings you a home-made supper and drives off to grab some drive-thru? Someone else pops in with pizzas to freeze. Phone calls come - constantly. "Is there anything we can do?" "Do you need someone to talk to?" "Can we come and pray with you?" "Just wanted you to know that we're thinking and praying for you?" Emails come to say "We're believeing God for a miracle!" It's so much that you sit there absolutely blown away and mumble yourappreciation and wonder and ponder afterwards at the amazing generosity! What kind of people do this?

God's people! His hands and feet! His arms of love! His demonstration of Himself! Real people with real lives and real issues stop to make my family a part of theirs. Community means a kind of family. And I'm only beginning to discover it!

Hi Dwayne,
This morning our Waldheim ministerial prayed for you and your family. We grieve at the news, but not as those without hope.

Dwayne, you will be in our prayers. I truly believe God has lots of work for you on this earth yet, and you will beat this. If there's anything I can do to help, or Fern, or even the kids, just ask. But we'll pray for sure.

Dwayne,

Kirsten and I and the kids want to let you know that you are an inspiration to us. We are praying every day for you. You are the reason we found and came to love LH church nd the comunity that you have lead so well. You are the reason, for me, that I have been able to express my faith more freely in this last year, since knowing you. We are there for you and we know that you have faith in God's plan and his "answers". God Bless!

I think of my profound gratitude to you for being a friend to Brian, and leading him to his decision to accept Christ. Your joy, your friendship, your witness has led my husband to commit to God, and Jesus has given you the great gift of evangelism. Even through this, you continue to inspire others to a deepening commitment to Christ as Savior.

cynthia forwarded the info filled email to me today and i can't stop thinking about the Harms 4. i know God's ways are higher than ours, but it sure would be a treat to understand the big picture at times. I will be praying constantly for you guys and your precious kids...know that you are being lifted up by so many. Already, the transparency of your journal has amazed me. God IS faithful. All the time.

Hey there, words are... well, there aren't any that fairly express the extent of the troubling of our soul and spirit upon hearing of the onset of your most recent battle... and battle it is... one to be fought...with courage and truth; with the support of people who love you.
Blessings...and prayers for healing on your behalf every time that God brings you to mind.

I am from the Church at Saskatoon. We have a couple of members of our assembly who were friends of yours and knew people who were members of Living Hope Church. As someone who is new to the Church, I too, am completely amazed by the love of the Family of God. When we heard of your condition, we prayed for you and yours every Sunday service and Wednesdays at Prayer Meeting. You are in a far better place now, away from the pain of the world and in the safety of the Kingdom of God. God Bless,

love,

Keri
