A Bit of Encouragement

Last night Dwayne had a better rest and we were all so thankful for that. As a result he had a bit of a better day today. Today they removed his epidural, and so now we're on to new pain meds. Tonight Dwayne was able to drink a bit more liquids, and was also able to lie on his side comfortably for the first time since surgery. It was good to see him improve a bit. Very slow progress, but progress nonetheless. His meds make him confused at times, but today I printed off the blog responses of the past several days and we spent the evening reading them intermittantly. Beautiful words of encouragement, so needed during these days. "Thank you" will never be enough. Thanks for the prayers as well. We are blessed by them.

By the way, Tyler is back at home. This year it was just too tough to be away.

You are loved so much! This journey you are going through is so tough. We (Scott & I) are praying for you constantly. 3 in the morning when I wake up my first thoughts are of you and I pray for you. If I could I would take this pain from you. God is able, and we continue to pray that God's healing hand would be on Dwayne. Janet my heart aches for you, my tears flow for you, you are doing an incredible job on this journey in your life. My prayer is that God would hold all four of you close to him, and give you all that you need to continue the path ahead of you.
Love, Gwen

Janet,

Mark 11:23

That scripture is our theme as we pray for you, Dwayne and the kids. We are praying that God will move this mountain that stands before you and we are not allowing any doubts into our hearts or minds as we pray.

We will continue to request prayer and post updates on Dwayne in our global church email. So many are lifting your family up in prayer.

"He is able, more than able, to accomplish what concerns me today.
He is able, more than able, to handle anything that comes my way.
He is able, more than able, to do much more than I could ever dream.
He is able, more than able, to make me what He wants me to be."

We love you guys!

Dwayne and Janet,

You don't know me, I am married to one of Dwayne's many cousins. Chris Funk. He is your aunt Erna's son.
I have been logging on to this site for quite some time and following your journey. Chris and I want you to know that we are praying for you and your family. I can only imagine how difficult this has been for you all. Your faith has been very inspiring for us. Never let go of hope.

Janet:

Thanks so much for keeping us up to date by continuing Dwayne's blog each day. We can't even imagine how you have the strength to do that at the end of the day, but we thank you. It helps us to know how to pray, which our family is doing for you and yours daily. You are the one that has to be strong for your family through all of this, and you are doing a marvelous job even with all of your own heartaches.

Please know that you are loved and thought of constantly. God instructed us to pray without ceasing, and with all of the warriors out there praying on your behalf, you can be sure that this is in itself a personal 24/7 prayer, especially for your family during your darkest hour.

All of the giving that you have been doing over the course of your ministry is now showing the impact as people step up to commit your family to God through prayer, as you've done for so many of our lives in the past. Now it's your turn to be ministered to, and we pray God's spirit on your hearts to bring the peace and healing you need so desperately now.

Love as always. Doug and Heather

Dwayne & Janet,

We continue to pray for you and your family...and especially for you to receive comfort and physical healing. We are asking friends who may not know you or your situation to pray for you as well. I know you too have many people and situations that you are praying over...as you converse with our Lord, please uphold us as we transition to Regina. Dwayne, you will prevail in the Lord's strength...you can do this...the Lord is with you. Happy belated birthday to Ashlynne.

Hi Dwayne & Janet,
Just to let you know again that we are praying for you. I have wept before the Lord on your behalf. It is hard to wait and be still until He reveals Himself in a special way. "They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength....." Easy to read and to repeat but not so easy to do. I know from experience. My wife is not well right now and the time can be long and painful. HOW GOOD TO KNOW HIM! We are in HIS HANDS! Praise His wonderful Name!
God bless you and the children in this time of trial.

Dear Dwayne and Janet,
We just learned of your illness last evening when Sharon H. called us from Midale. She gave us the call letters of your site. We have been reading the various updates this afternoon.

We have added you to our prayer list. May you feel some improvement as each difficult day passes.

Sorry to hear of the passing of your mother, Janice.

Axel suffered a severe heart attach July 2 so is still recovering from that. The prayers of many and the expertise of many more brought him through the episode.

God's blessings to each one in your family. So difficult for the children at a time like this.

with our love,

Axel and Anne

I am another prayer partner who has been begging for God's mercy for you from the shadows. I and my family have prayed for you and your family every since we heard of your illness announced at Forest Grove Church one Sunday in June (our home church).
I've been to Living Hope Church twice before. I took a non-Christian friend there, knowing that you, Dwayne provided a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere for Truth Seekers. My friend calls herself a Buddhist, and was much impressed by the Truth you presented on those visits. She still calls you the 'pastor who looks like John Denver who never stops smiling'. The spiritual truths that you have planted are still germinating in her.
You are a good and faithful servant, Dwayne. Your life is a radiant role model for so many people. I, and my family are praying that God would restore you physically, and allow His Truth to shine through you even brighter than before.
Take courage from our continuous prayers. We will never stop beseeching God on your behalf.
I check the blogspot two or three times a day, Janet. Thank you for keeping us updated.

You are always in our hearts and prayers,

June Wilson and family

Dear Dwayne and Janet,

I was just informed that you were in the hospital and have been praying for you both and your family. I didn't know how I was going to get in touch with you. This is so great that you are able to share your journey and allow us to be a part of it. I know that God is more than able to bring you through this difficult time and I will continue to pray and look forward to seeing you back in Edmonton in January. You are both amazingly special people and I know that you take comfort in the fact that God is using you in this painful hardship to touch people with His love and build His kingdom. God bless you and keep you in His care. May His face shine brightly upon you and give you peace.

Dwayne & Janet:

I wanted to share a few verses that God had given to me when our daughter-in-law was diagnosed with Hodgkins lymphoma in Jan. and we were all struggling and fearful.
Psalm 91:
"He will cover you with His feathers and under his wings you will find refuge,
His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart, you will not fear the terror of night,
For He will command His angels concerning you, to guard you in all your ways, they will lift you up in their hands"
What a beautiful picture of God's caring and gentleness, as well as His protective nature.
I will pray these verses for you, Dwayne and Janet and your children on a daily basis.
Rest in the knowledge that other believers are upholding you, when, I am sure the only thing you can utter is "Jesus", it is enough!!

Dwayne Janet and children,

No words can express the prayerful concern that we (and everyone else ) has for you. Praying seems to be such a difficult thing right now but if thoughts and sympathy are forms of prayer then we are praying constantly. "Thy will be done" God has a plan, Dwayne, as we talked about that night, but it is bigger than anything anyone can possibly fathom. There are so many degrees of separation between your illness and what God has in mind that we amy never see or hear Gods answer, but it is there and He is doing what he feels is best. God loves you Dwayne and family and we do too. God Bless and stay strong!

To pastor Dwayne and his family...

Even though I am far away, I wanted to add one more note to your blog.

When I first heard the news that Dwayne was in hospital... for some reason I didn't feel the shock and fear that many people might have.
All I could feel was that the Lord was right there to comfort, and remind me of the blessed assurance we have in carrying everything to God in prayer.
Honestly I felt very humbled that He would be there to comfort ME... even though I am far away from the reality that you must face up in Saskatoon.

Our little church in Macoun continues to pray for you on Sundays... and I'm sure you know well that many people everywhere pray daily; because of how the Lord used you in their lives.

I know that there is nothing outside of the Lord's control... which makes me think also of our meeting again in Saskatoon. I was encouraged by the warm smiles that I remembered from way back in Midale... and the "family" feeling you get when you know that you're spending time with brothers and sisters that you'll know forever.

What Jesus has impressed upon my heart to share with you, is this simple little song. I wish I were there to teach you the melody! but maybe you already know it:

Jesus took my burden, I could no longer bear.
Yes Jesus took my burden, in answer to my prayer.
My anxious fear's subsided, my spirit's been made strong!
For Jesus took my burden... and left me with a song.

This happy little tune brings me so much joy and comfort when things have seemed to be at their ugliest... isn't it just like Jesus? To take something so painful away, and leave us with something like an encouraging little diddy?

I'll keep praising the Lord for sending all of the love and comfort to your family that I know He does!

alongside in prayer,
Lauren Klarhom (Macoun)

Dwayne, Janet, Ashlyne and Tyler - -
Greg phoned us today to update us on things as I have been too afraid to call and bother you, but have prayed daily for you. The news he had was not what I wanted but through these many tears I still must trust that He IS IN CONTROL and will accomplish His purposes. I wish that I could be there to hug you all. I am reading this BLOG a bit at a time as that is all I can handle. Dwayne I want you to know that, though we don't get to see you much, you have been a strength behind Jerry and I ever since we said our vows and this journey will be a future place we can meet with you and continue to be lifted up by your honesty and faith. We love you both and are constantly praying.
Many, many hugs,
Much, much love
Lots and lots of prayers
Jerry, Tiff, Jaime, Josie and Jayden Frank
